The Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center started as a passion project for Darryl after the passing of both of his grandfathers after battles with cancer. One of his grandfathers endured constant long distance drives to receive treatments, and the other opted not to make the trip. Darryl dreamed that there would be a place nearby where cancer patients could receive their treatments and have the ability to go back to their own homes and sleep in their own beds afterwards, rather than spending the day in the car or a night in a motel. After seeing Darryl’s passion for the project, the Center was opened in 2004

Today, the Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center believes that every person who wants treatment should receive it, and receive it close to home. The Center works with Hardin Medical Center for chemotherapy services and with Kirkland Cancer Center for radiation therapy services.

The 9,000 square foot building includes a radiation treatment room, 4 chemotherapy treatment rooms, 2 examination rooms, offices, and waiting rooms. The Center treats approximately 800 cancer patients each month from Hardin and surrounding counties.

In 2019, Hardin County was devastated by some of the highest flood waters in history. The flooding affected over one thousand homes and dozens of businesses. The water level caused severe property damage and loss to so many on our community. With many roads rendered impassable, Hardin County citizens were left stranded in their homes and schools were closed.

The Darryl Worley Foundation worked in tandem with the Hardin County Disaster Recovery team to help provide food and water for displaced members of the community, and help clean out homes and businesses for survivors who suffered damages. The Hardin County Disaster Recovery team used funds to help pay for the various needs of flood victims throughout the area.

Meals were served in community areas, clean water was given out, and temporary shelter was provided for those in need.

Leader In Me is an evidence-based, comprehensive school improvement model that empowers students with the leadership and life skills they need to thrive in the 21st century. The program unites students, staff, and families to help schools create well rounded people and life-ready learners. With this common goal in mind, schools work to prepare students for college and career, and equip them with life-readiness skills that are necessary in today’s ever-changing world.

Leader In Me is based on the theory of change known as the See-Do-Get cycle. When you change the way you see things, it influences what you do, and then the results you get. The five core paradigms of the program help educators begin to see their role, student potential, and the purpose of school culture in a whole new way.

Leader In Me upholds the ideas that everyone can be a leader and everyone has genius. Students and teachers are encouraged to begin change in themselves in order to impact the larger system and empower students to lead their own learning. Finally, Leader In Me doesn’t focus solely on academic achievement, but strives to develop the whole person.

I can’t save them by myself
Oh, but God forbid that I just turn my head
And walk on by
Don’t let me be a stranger to those less fortunate than I
